...along with Windows powered handset

Samsung has revealed two new mobile phones, one based upon Android and branded with the Google logo and the other to be run on the Windows Mobile operating system.

The Android-powered design is to be known as the Samsung i6500 Saturn and is a smartphone. Rumours have it that it will run on version 1.5 of the operating system, at least initially. The phone may also be based upon a 800Mhz CPU and may feature a 3.2in touchscreen. The chassis also appears to hold a built in camera of an unknown specification along with a Wi-Fi capability, according to the Samsung Hub website

The other handset is known as the Samsung i899 and will include a 3.5in AMOLED touchscreen packing in 320 x 480 pixels, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, a microSD card to boost the internal memory and a 3-megapixel camera.

Motorola Sholes - more pictures revealed

by Administrator 10. December 2009 01:47

Android 2.1 confirmed OS

More images of the forthcoming Motorola Sholes mobile phone have been spotted, via a Chinese website, which has confirmed that the new design will be running on the latest iteration of the Android operating system - version 2.1.

The most interesting aspect of the handset, in a physical sense, is the rather odd chassis design that, seen here next to the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, offers the user an asymmetrical layout. Other confirmed features for the new phone include the squashing of the 8-megapixel camera rumour. This now appears to be nothing more than a 5-megapixel model. Still a good specification, nevertheless.

According to the Engadget website, the new Sholes will feature a large screen spanning 3.7in plus GPS for location finding and a built in FM radio for entertainment. No distribution, price or release details are forthcoming yet. However, obersevers believe that the phone will be released during 2010.

Nokia working on new 12-megapixel phone

by Administrator 3. December 2009 21:54

New design to feature capacitive touch-screen display

Nokia is working on a new mobile phone that will not only feature a capacitive touch-screen, but a high-spec 12-megapixel camera too.

The successor to the Nokai's flagship camera phone, the N86 8MP, this new design has been labelled as the Nokia N87 12MP, is also a dual slider that opens to reveal a standard number keypad, and at the other end, a set of media buttons. The capacitive touch-screen clocks in at 3.2 inches with a wide-screen 800x480 resolution.

According the Phone Arena, the camera is a high-quality Carl Zeiss lens with both a LED and Xenon flash, meaning it should trounce much of its competition at those lowlight snaps.

Operating system wise, it's likely Nokia has gone with Symbian for the N87, as the company has already announced it will only release one device on its powerful Linux-based Maemo OS, and that device is meant to be a 'mobile computer' like the N900.

Samsung Diva launches next month

by Administrator 2. December 2009 21:02

Fashion phone also racks up some social networking points

If you're a female mobile phone user, you must be wishing your phone had a white embossed cover, or some crystal buttons, or at the very least, was pink.

Well, wish no more - last week Samsung announced its Diva Collection, a series of fashion phones aimed at the ladies (and metrosexuals?), and the first one, the S7070 is ready to launch. It's not pink, but it does have a pearly white quilted back cover, and its 'OK' button is made of crystal and diamond shaped for that opulent look.

Under its pretty lil bonnet, it's packing a 2.8-inch LCD touch-screen, and a 3.2-megapixel camera with beauty shot (smooth out those imperfections) and the 'Lomo effect' filter to turn your plebian snapshots all arty like. It'll also sport Samsung's icon-heavy TouchWiz interface with plenty of widgets in stock, from the useful (weather) to the cute-but-slightly-useless (birthday reminder).

Social networking wise, the Diva will support push notifications for Facebook and MySpace events, and a multi-account instant messenger that can aggregate contacts from Hotmail, Gtalk and more. It's also preloaded with some cute extras we've seen from Samsung before, like Etiquette Mode and Fake Call.

The rest is pretty basic - Bluetooth, 40MB with microSD slot to expand memory, and a standard music player. The Diva clocks in at 101 x 54.8 x 13.4mm and 94 grams, with an impressive talktime up to 600 minutes, and standby of 800 hours.

Available in the UK in January 2010
