Sleek aesthetics and easy navigation make this free twitter client for Android a keeper.
There's an abundant supply of 3rd party twitter clients available in Google Play store for Android
- Plume, Falcon and Seesmic immediately come to mind. And yet, there’s always a reason to celebrate when we see a promising new recruit, especially when it comes at the very low price of free.
The biggest takeaway after sharing twitter credentials with Carbon is that the developer has done an outstanding job at making the client visually distinctive from the sea of competitors. Most notably, the app looks very clean and organised, with very little in terms of any on-screen prompts and buttons.
As it's so common these days, the client makes use of various swipe gestures to provide intuitive navigation throughout its menus. By swiping the screen sideways, for example, the user can effortlessly switch between active twitter feeds, while a double finger swipe up or down will quickly take the user to the very top or bottom of the timeline respectively.
Aside from the smooth and visually pleasing aesthetics, however, Carbon for Android doesn't bring much beyond what's already been offered by some 3rd party twitter clients. That being said, the app has just now launched, and we can expect the developer to continue working on adding extra features to spice things up.
The app performed well on our Motorola Razr i
, but owners of Android tablets might have to wait a while longer before the developer brings in support for their devices. As usual, you can grab the new app via the Play Store link below.
