Addictive, fast-paced gameplay guaranteed in this classic 2D shmup.
The latest entry in the free games lineup for PlayStation certified smartphones puts gamers in charge of a team of cats. Their mission? Why, to scour the depths of the ocean in search for milk, of course.
According to the developers, Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender was largely influenced by such Amiga classics like Turrican, Rainbow Islands or New Zealand Story. The old-school vibe of Aqua Kitty not only pertains gameplay, as this feline-infused, side-scrolling shooter also sports fantastic pixel art design and chiptune music that will immediately pull veteran gamers back to the good ol' 16-bit gaming era.
A few weeks ago, Sony kicked off the promotion to raise awareness of PlayStation Mobile games with freebies like Samurai Beatdown, Beat Sliders and Cubixx. If you're lucky enough to own a PlayStation certified smartphone (or a PS Vita) - such as Xperia T
, or HTC One X
and One S
- simply head into the PlayStation Mobile app, download Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender from there.
In the best tradition of '80s gaming, Aqua Kitty can get crushingly tough, but addictive gameplay and surprisingly tight on-screen controls will keep you returning for more. Considering that Sony is giving away this fast-paced action game entirely for free, there's really no reason not to give Aqua Kitty a bit of your free time. There are only two more giveaways left, so make sure to check back next Wednesday to learn about the next free title from Sony.
