Every smartphone has hidden features that will make your user experience that much better and here are our favourite iPhone tricks that you don’t know. You can shower a ‘Happy Birthday’ with confetti or slam your message down. There are so many features you can use to simply spice up your iMessages. All you need to do is tap and hold on the blue arrow next to your message. Swipe across the effects to find your perfect match.

Another little secret that can help you out massively in terms of sending messages is the space bar. Not only does this, of course, create spaces, but it also allows you to move along words. By holding and sliding along the space bar, your cursor will move along the text so you can edit exactly where you need to.

We all know the pain of trying to send a message using one hand and not being able to reach to the other side of the keyboard. It can be a real effort to head into your settings and enter one handed mode. Little did you know, there’s actually the perfect shortcut for this. Whilst in your messages, press shift and hold the world icon in the corner. This will give you the option to change to a one handed keyboard in seconds.

With so many emojis, you can spend ages tapping through the pages, trying to find the one you need. To avoid scrolling and save a few minutes, you can actually swipe backwards and forwards along the bottom of the emojis to quickly navigate. It may not seem like it but this will save you ages!

Hacks to save time

If you’re somebody who uses your phone timer a lot, you’ve probably already set up the shortcut from your control centre. Simply press and hold on the timer icon from your home screen and adjust the bars depending on the time limit you need.

When you’re texting, you may notice that your iPhone will predict what you want to say next. This is based on your most used words and sentences. There is a slight trick you can use to quickly share your location thanks to this feature. Simply type ‘I’m at’ and you’ll see ‘Current Location’ appear in the prediction box. Tap this and help your friends find you!

Photo Secrets

Have you got photos that you want to hide? Whether you’ve screenshotted bank details or present ideas, there’s a perfect way to keep them all a secret. All you need to do is select the photos you want to hide in your photo gallery. Tap the share icon in the bottom left hand corner and scroll to the bottom of the options. Tap ‘Edit Actions’ and tap the + next to hide. Now you can hide these photos. To access them, all you need to do is head to Albus and scroll to the bottom. This file will appear just above recently deleted.

Want to share some of your photos whilst keeping your privacy? Your location is actually tagged on your photos so anyone you share them with can see where you took them. If you want to remove this tag, all you need to do is tap on the photo you want to share and tap the share icon in the bottom left corner. From here, tap the location at the top and make sure the toggle is off. You’ll be all good to share these now!

You can even try turning your camera into a magnifying glass with a quick change in settings. This is great if you’re struggling to read a menu at a restaurant but don’t have any glasses on you. Simply head into Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier and turn the toggle on. When you need to use it, just triple tap the lock button and you’ll be good to go!
