Nokia today unveiled the latest addition to its Lumia family of handsets, the Nokia Lumia 620. According to the company, it's the most affordable Windows Phone 8 device in its portfolio.

The Lumia 620 runs on a 1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, and it has a 3.7 inch WVGA resolution (800 x 480 pixels) TFT touchscreen, 8 GB of internal memory, microSD card support and a 5 Mpix camera. There's also NFC support that allows users to easily pair the Nokia Lumia 620 with NFC-enabled accessories or share and receive content with compatible devices.

One of the key things about the design of Nokia Lumia 620 is that it uses a new 'dual-shot' technique. According to Nokia, the technique adds a second layer of coloured, transparent or translucent polycarbonate plastic over the base layer to create 'secondary colour blends and depth effects'. The exchangeable shells of Lumia 620 will come in a variety of different colours that users will be able to choose to match their personal taste and style.

Powered by Windows Phone 8, the Nokia Lumia 620 has all the enhancements to deliver 'a more personal smartphone experience'. This includes the 'People Hub’ that pulls together contact information from multiple address books and social networks into a single location, and the 'Me' Tile, from where people can check-in to their location, post an update or monitor notifications from Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Built-in Microsoft services like Office, Xbox Live and 7 GB of free online storage via SkyDrive are also present on the Lumia 620.

On top of that, Nokia Lumia 620 comes pre-loaded with Nokia's signature software such as Nokia Drive, Nokia Music and Nokia City Lens that shows relevant information about user's local surroundings through the camera's viewfinder.

Jo Harlow, executive vice president of Nokia Smart Devices, said: "We continue to execute on our strategy to reach new audiences and new markets. With its innovative design, the latest Windows Phone 8 software and signature experiences from Nokia, like Nokia lenses, Nokia Maps and Nokia Music, the Nokia Lumia 620 is a highly competitive smartphone at this price point."

According to Nokia, the handset is scheduled for release in early 2013. Meanwhile, you can familiarise yourself with the features of the new Lumia 620 by watching Nokia’s official introductory video.
