When and what can we expect for Samsung Galaxy S9
With a new smartphone being launched every year, 2018 we anticipate Samsung to announce the Galaxy S9 in just a few weeks.

Samsung has confirmed it will release the next Galaxy model smartphone series in a February at Mobile World Congress. Many believe that the Samsung are looking to continue the success of its previous model with an iPhone X killing device.
Last year, the Samsung Galaxy S8 was a tremendous success for them. Their new device is expected to continue with its edge to edge display, incorporate a dual camera and with all new improved processors.
When is the announcement?
We know that Samsung are expected to make the announcement at the international trade show Mobile World congress which will be the week of 26 February. DJ Koh, Samsung’s head of mobile has confirmed that the company’s next flagship model will be announced during the event.
What will the S9 look like?
Expected to look quite like the Galaxy S8 with a display of 5.77-inch display, while the Galaxy S9+ will have a 6.22-inch display.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch display, which makes us assume that the Samsung S9 could be slightly smaller than its predecessor. Samsung are expected to keep its rear fingerprint scanner and edge-to-edge display.
Galaxy S9 features
The S9 is believed to be an upgrade rather than totally redesigning the old Samsung Galaxy S8.
Dual Camera
With the iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 both having dual lens camera modules, the Galaxy S9 is expected to follow in the same footsteps.
Samsung has been promoting its dual lens camera technology over the last few months with the release of its ISOCELL camera sensors. However, it isn’t confirmed that these will appear in the Galaxy S9+, these sensors allow them to give the phone a thinner screen and variable aperture. Which could improve low light shots and giving almost “DSLR-like photo experiences such as greater light sensitivity, depth effects and sharper brightness in all conditions”, according to Samsung.
Rear Fingerprint Scanner
According to leaked images, Samsung look to maintain its rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for the Galaxy S9. The older model S8 contains an iris scanner, it is believed that Samsung will have some form of facial identification technology which will be an upgrade, compared to its current iris scanner.
Bixby voice assistant
Bixby voice assistant has been in all of Samsung’s phones since last year, along with some other hardware and appliances, so expect a return of the voice-controlled AI.
How much will it cost?
With Samsung trying to remain competitive, you can expect the price to reach in the region of £789 for the Galaxy S9 and £879 for the Galaxy S9+.
