Motorola Migrate - Make the Switch from Old to New
Buying a new phone, we often forget about the tedious process of transferring data over from our old device. Shopping is an exciting part of any ownership so many of us avoid spoiling it by thinking about technicalities. Lucky for us users then, Motorola brought the inconvenience level to a minimum with an app called “Motorola Migrate”.

You might have never heard of it, but that’s ok since apps like this get used once and are forgotten until you need another data transfer. In the olden days, the process would have involved couple of cables, complicated software, and a whole load of frustration. Thankfully today, one can transfer data wirelessly using only a few taps on the screen. Text messages, call history, SIM contacts, pictures, video, and music will be whisked away to your new Nexus 6 with the uttermost convenience.
To set off, you will need to visit Google’s Play store and search for “Motorola Migrate” or visit it directly on

Since it is a fairly popular transfer app, it will be located right on the top of the list. Install it on your Nexus 6 and tap on it to launch after the installation process has been completed. One of the first screens to come up asks you what type of device you want to transfer from. Choices are Android, iPhone or other. Whichever you choose, the next screen will direct you to install the same app on the other device. If you have an Android, you can do the same exact thing as you did for Nexus 6 or you can use a barcode scanner to scan the QR code and follow a hyperlink. It’s pretty much the same story for iPhone. Other devices are supported too, but success rates vary depending on the model. If you have a phone that’s not iOS or Android, check the website to see whether it is fully supported. After you have installed the app on both phones, you want to make sure the correct transfer mode has been selected since “Migrate” can either transfer data to or from a new device. Settings page can be accessed by tapping the three little dots located in the top right corner of the screen.
Now that everything has been set up correctly, it is time to move onto the actual transfer of files. Before you initiate the process make sure both devices are fully charged as the process can take a while if there is a lot of data to shift. Glance at both phones every now and then just to make sure things are going according to plan. That is pretty much all it takes to transfer over content from your old phone. No complicated settings, no fuss, and most importantly, no stress. Given that you followed our directions, the new files should be on your Nexus 6, ready to be explored.
