Skype Preview for Windows Phone 8 goes live
Microsoft releases Skype Preview that brings the promised integration with Windows Phone 8 devices.

Skype Preview for Windows Phone 8
With the launch of several Windows Phone 8 devices to the market, Microsoft is rushing out to bring a totally new Skype variant with some exciting and long awaited features.

With Skype for Windows Phone 8, users will stay connected even when the app is closed or running in the background. This has been accomplished by running vital parts of the service in the 'cloud' instead of the phone. The app integrates seamlessly into the People Hub, where all your Skype contacts will now be listed. The app seamlessly integrates with the OS so that Skype calls appear just like regular phone calls. Video calls are also supported, which should work nicely with the front facing wide-angle lens on the upcoming HTC Windows Phone 8X. Skype Preview comes complete with lock screen notifications and a beautiful, modern design that fits with the look of Windows Phone.

You can learn more about Skype Preview by watching the official demo, and download the app itself from Windows Phone Store. Since it's a preview release, many of the listed features are 'work-in-progress', so be prepared to run into some occasional hiccups along the way.
