What Women Want

What Women Want

“Smartphones have overtaken laptops as UK internet users’ number one device!”

Ofcom reported on August 6th this year that smartphones have overtaken laptops as UK internet users’ number one device, not only that but we’re spending two hours online on our smartphones everyday; twice as long as laptops! Superfast 4G is also helping change the way we shop, bank watch TV and communicate.

What Women Want

It was reported back in June by TechTimes that "More women appeared to believe that interpersonal relationships can be fostered via the internet, which is consistent with women’s preferences for social networking services.  Furthermore, compared with men, women used smartphones to communicate with others more often, which may contribute to greater smartphone dependency among women."

So we decided to take matters into our own hands and ask busy women to share what they care about when it comes to a smartphone.

We asked 5 Mums with smart phones 5 questions:

1 Best smart phone for a busy Mum and why?
2 Which brand is best for travel, holding in hand, being around sticky fingers?
3 How do you carry your smartphone?
4 Any app recommendations?
5 Best phone for photos/videos and uploading to Social Media?

1 Best smart phone for a busy Mum and why?
I really like my Samsung galaxy note (3 is my current version). I can use it as a tablet or phone. Screen and photo quality is fantastic. My contract expires soon and I will probably get rid on my ‘SIM only’ and keep the same handset for a total of 3+ years.

2 Which brand is best for travel, holding in hand, being around sticky fingers?
Fits most jeans pockets and loads of memory. I always get a gel shock cover and screen protector as it saves my phone on many near misses.

3 How do you carry your smartphone?
I don't carry on my buggy as I would lose it, pockets are my preferred carry option.

4 Any app recommendations?
Apps depend on usage. I use facebook, messenger and Google chrome mostly. Also did Weight Watchers online with app as well as Jawbone and Bounts. I have previously managed a website and running a charity organisation 80+% on my phone using Google sheets, Word-Press and Google docs.

5 Best phone for photos/videos and uploading to Social Media?
I am really happy with the phone I have – Samsung.

3 How do you carry your smartphone?
I carry it in my handbag. The iPhone 6plus is not hard to find because of its size ;)

Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, The Guardian

5 Best phone for photos/videos and uploading to Social Media?
The iphoneS 6+ has simplicity, style, compatibility with other devices such as my laptop and iPad. The iPhone’s adoption stats break down much more closely in parallel with the population as a whole: 43% female versus 57% male.  I guess as women want to network and socialize more they have found social media apps a practical way of staying in touch with friend and family.  It’s our nature to be sociable.

I always put it in the zip pocket inside or have a bright cover.

5 Best phone for photos/videos and uploading to Social Media?
I like the ease of use and most I have other apple products like iPads etc and keeps children quiet. It makes sharing photographs, images, articles and apps is easy around the family home.
