Dropbox - Never Lose a File Again

Dropbox - Never Lose a File Again
Cloud storage has made our lives infinitely easier, ever since we first gained access to free services such as Dropbox. Dropbox has been around for some time now, gaining a reputation as one of the simplest and most hassle-free solutions available.

Those of you who haven’t heard of it, Dropbox is a cloud-based storage service giving you access to your files no matter where you are. Besides giving you access everywhere, it’s available on a wide variety of platforms such as Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, iPhone, iPad, and BlackBerry. If you ever tried saving copies of files on emails, you’ll understand the struggle Dropbox solves. Also available through a web browser, you can access documents even on devices that don’t have the application installed. Let’s take a look at some of its other features as well!

Gaining access to Dropbox is as simple as navigating to their website and downloading the installation file. In case you are using a mobile device, just visit its marketplace and grab a free copy. Since Dropbox is such a popular service, it’ll probably pop up first in search results. During the installation process, users can choose where to place the folder or leave it at the default location. It will also prompt you to sign into the service. If you have an account, simply log in. If you don’t, follow instructions to create one for free. After installation finishes, Dropbox will appear in start menu and system tray. For those users that had accounts with files stored, it will automatically download everything located on the cloud. Other than that, using the service is sensationally simple. Just place the file you want to save inside Dropbox’s folder and you are done! Syncing is done automatically in the background.

Unlike file-sharing services, if you delete a file within Dropbox’s folder it will be deleted on all devices. Likewise, if you upload something, all devices receive a copy. Thus ensure the file has been backed up if you just want to keep it on one device.  As is the case with other cloud based services, Dropbox offers free and premium accounts. Personal accounts come with 2GB of free storage plus 500MB for every referral who joins, up to a total of 16GB. You can also gain space by performing actions such as uploading a photo, connecting your Facebook and Twitter accounts, following Dropbox on Twitter, completing the "Get Started" guide, etc. Get enough friends to join and you’ll never run out of storage if you use it for plain documents like we do.

If you use a lot of different devices and have a need to centralize files in one place, Dropbox is the ideal solution to your problems. It offers effortless syncing with plenty of space if you invite a couple of friends. Available on wide variety of platforms, it gives you unprecedented flexibility. Download it for free and let us know what you think!
