Released just over a year ago now the Apple iPhone 8 Plus was the last series of the handset to feature the bezel edge and the first ever Apple iPhone to bring wireless charging to the fore.
Apple iPhone 8 Plus Design and Display
So as we mentioned this is a bezel phone and very typical of the classy design offered by Apple. The Apple iPhone 8 Plus is the larger version of the eight series with the Apple iPhone 8 also being available. Users who prefer bigger screens will find that the 5.5-inch handset offers a nice viewing area. The screen is Retina HD on an LCD Multitouch panel. It features a resolution of 1920x1080 with 401ppi meaning that you are going to enjoy very clear images when you are streaming movies or indeed playing mobile games as this handset also features AR but more about that later.
For protection, the handset features an IP67 rating which basically means that it can survive a water depth of up to one metre for up to 30 mins, although technically this is not something that we would advise. However, it gives you protection should you accidentally drop it in water. Gone are the days of boxes of rice on the radiator. The Glass is also toughed Gorilla glass, and while we advise that all phones have a screen protector or case just in case you drop it, you can be assured your Apple iPhone 8 Plus is a solid handset.
Apple made the decision to remove the standard headphone jack when it came to the iPhone 7 series, so you will not find one here either. The rear of the Apple iPhone 8 Plus has the wireless charging which was a new edition from Apple, and this was the first handset to offer it.
Apple iPhone 8 Plus Audio
Apple never fails to impress with Audi quality and the Apple iPhone 8 Plus is no exception. It has a great speaker arrangement so you can be sure you will hear the handset when using the speakers and of course you have the option of wireless or wired headphones. Apples own wireless earbuds are touted to be the best because they have proprietary connectivity, but they do not come with the handset.
Apple iPhone 8 Plus Camera
In terms of camera technology, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus is all about 12MP on the rear with a dual lease that is the same camera found on the newer iPhone X. You have a wide-angle (28mm equivalent) and telephoto (56mm equivalent) lens that combines to create the perfect images. On the front, you will find a 7MP front-facing selfie camera which is also brilliant and takes the perfect selfies. Both cameras have video recording capabilities, and the supporting photo software is outstanding.
Apple iPhone 8 Plus Features and Performance
Apple never disappoints when it comes to processing power and as such the Apple iPhone 8 Plus features the A11 Bionic chipset which again features in the iPhone X, because it is such a strong offering. The handset features the neural engine and is a powerful piece of kit. Apple always uses their own gadgetry, so naturally, the operating system is the latest version, iOS12, and updates will be available once the handset is in use.
A newer Apple feature is the enhanced AR capabilities, and all handsets that run iOS 12 will be able to access the features on offer. The size and AR capability of this handset give it the edge when it comes to mobile gaming as the price tag is also incredibly reasonable as this is no longer the newest handset. The supporting battery is more than capable of dealing with a full day of activities and charging time with the cable is fast.
In terms of security, there is a fingerprint scanner under the home button, and this works well. Apple love to offer choice when it comes to storage options and you will find that the Apple iPhone 8 Plus is available in two sizes, either 64GB or 256GB depending on which suits you best. The handset is also available in a range of colours, Gold, Silver and Space Grey.
