Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: Samsung's Most Capable Foldable Yet
If the standard Z Fold8 is built around content consumption, the Ultra variant is Samsung's answer for anyone who wants their foldable to double as a genuine productivity machine. It carries forward the DNA of the original Z Fold line, now pushed further with a bigger screen, a much stronger camera system, and top-tier specs across the board.
Bigger Screens, Built for Getting Things Done
The Ultra's defining trait is scale. Closed, you get a 6.5-inch cover display; unfold it and you're working with a full 8-inch main screen - noticeably larger than the standard Fold8's 7.6-inch panel. That extra real estate is aimed squarely at multitaskers: side-by-side apps, spreadsheet work, video calls next to notes, or immersive gaming with room to spare.
Thin, Light, and Reinforced
Despite the larger footprint, Samsung has kept things slim - just 4.1mm thick when unfolded, and 215 grams in total. A refined Armor FlexHinge and a wider inner bezel gap make opening the phone feel smoother than before, while a double titanium layer beneath the display adds reinforcement against everyday wear. Colour options include Violet Shadow, Graphite, and Cream, plus an exclusive Green Shadow finish sold only through Samsung's own channels.
A Camera System a Step Above
This is where the Ultra really separates itself. It steps up to a 200MP Wide sensor alongside a 50MP Ultra Wide camera, plus a 10MP Telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom - hardware the standard Fold8 doesn't get. Video capture goes up to 8K, and the ProVisual Engine handles noise reduction and detail enhancement, particularly useful for shooting after dark.
Power to Match
Running on the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset found across the lineup, the Ultra pairs it with a larger 5000mAh battery - more capacity than either the standard Fold8 (4800mAh) or the Flip8 (4300mAh). Storage options run from 256GB up to 1TB, with the top tier bumping RAM to 16GB for heavier workloads.
How It Compares
Against its siblings, the Ultra is positioned as the flagship: bigger screens than the Fold8, more battery, and a substantially more capable camera. The regular Fold8, by contrast, leans into a lighter build and a shape tailored for watching and scrolling, while the Flip8 trades screen size for pocketability. If raw performance and screen real estate are the priority, the Ultra is the model built for it.
Ownership Perks
Buying direct from Samsung brings the usual trade-in savings, flexible payment plans including 0% finance options, optional Samsung Care+ protection, and - as with the standard Fold8 - an improved Smart Switch experience for migrating data from an old phone, Samsung or otherwise, in one guided process.
Bottom Line
The Z Fold8 Ultra is aimed at users who want the most capable foldable Samsung makes - more screen, more camera, more power - continuing the legacy of the original Z Fold under a new name.
