Apple has just released the brand-new iPhone 17, and we’re putting it head-to-head with the iPhone 16 to see what’s changed.
Looks & Display.

The New release introduces a slimmer design with thinner bezels, crafted from aerospace-grade titanium for enhanced durability without adding weight. In contrast, the iPhone 16 has a slightly bulkier build.
The 16 series features Apple’s Ceramic Shield, while the iPhone 17 upgrades to Ceramic Shield 2. Both offer protection against cracks and scratches, but Apple claims the second generation is three times more scratch resistant.
The iPhone 17 also highlights new fresh colours such as ‘Mist Blue’ and ‘Violet’. So, the iPhone 17 has come in with a new aesthetic, setting the bar high for the rest of the models in this new series.
Beyond its design upgrades, the iPhone 17 features a ProMotion OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering a far smoother experience compared to the iPhone 16’s standard 60Hz screen. Powered by the new A19 chip, the iPhone 17 delivers greater efficiency and optimized sustained performance, outpacing the A18 chip found in the iPhone 16.
The iPhone 17 can reach up to 2,500 nits of brightness, making it ideal for outdoor visibility and HDR content. An anti-reflective coating, paired with the display’s high brightness, makes the screen easier to view even in bright lighting conditions.
Camera Enhancements.

The iPhone 17 introduces major front camera upgrades, including a 48MP lens on the Pro Max compared to the iPhone 16’s 12MP camera. The iPhone 17 has an impressive ability to shoot vertically or horizontally with the front facing camera no matter how the phone is held.
This handset also supports professional grade 8K video recording, while the iPhone 16 tops out at 4K. The iPhone 17’s front camera includes video stabilization and a dual-capture mode, allowing you to record with both cameras simultaneously. These enhancements give you new ways to capture the perfect photo and video.
Battery Life.
Alongside its impressive new features, the iPhone 17 also delivers greater durability. The iPhone 17 models have up to 6 hours longer battery life then the iPhone 16 models, also offering up to 30 hours of video playback or 27 hours of streaming. By comparison, the iPhone 16 managed up to 22 hours of playback and 18 hours when streaming. Proving that the battery life on this phone is expected to be exceptional.
The iPhone 17 delivers all the essentials for everyday users, combining fast performance with advanced AI features to launch the 17 series in style.
