The Huawei P20 Pro is a really stunning example of a smartphone that packs a huge punch and yet does not totally break the bank as the price tag is more than reasonable. It is a high-end phone that has made many others sit up and take notice.

Huawei P20 Pro Design & Screen


The design immediately gives this away as a Huawei offering, and that is not a bad thing at all, the company have nailed their style, and the handsets always look stunning. The handset has the infinity edges and just the smallest of bezels along the bottom which houses the fingerprint scanner, while at the top there is a small notch for the front-facing camera. This is one of the enhanced biometric security features as this handset also has facial recognition like many at the top of the game.

The Huawei P20 Pro has a solid design and has been protected from the elements by the inclusion of IP67 level waterproofing, so you are also looking at a tough handset, although cases are always advised. In a break from their other handsets the P20 Pro is only being offered in black, but looking as good as it does we doubt people will care.

In terms of display, you are looking at a large AMOLED screen that boasts 1080 x 2244 resolution in a 6.1-inch area. This is another great choice of handset for users who are into mobile gaming or watching movies.

Huawei P20 Pro Audio


Audio is good, with support for Dolby Atmos and utilising Dolby AC-4 audio codec to support the sound, offering hi-res audio up to 32bit/384kHz. The handset comes with a music app installed which is useful.

In the current climate, it is unsurprising that the headphone jack has been left out, as that seems to be the current trend from all of the top manufacturers. There is a push towards wireless technology, so the handset uses aptX Bluetooth and works well with earbuds either from Huawei or of your own choice. You will find wired headphones in the body, and the required dongle has been including meaning you use the charging port to connect the headphones.

As soon as you hear the name Huawei you know that the camera performance is going to be impressive. They are the kings of phone camera technology, and the P20 Pro is no exception. On the rear, there is a three lens arrangement which is fairly unique.
